Make sure to fill out the Interim Lead Retro Pay form by March 9th. If you do not fill out this form by March 9th, you will not receive retro pay for interim lead assignments from April 27, 2025. Read on for details.
RETRO PAY PROCESS
The Union has 45 days from the date of settlement (January 26, 2026) to bring forward employees who need to be backpaid for work as an Interim Lead from April 27, 2025. Our deadline to submit claims to management is March 12, 2026. We ask all UMMAP bargaining unit members to fill out the form by March 9th to allow time for internal review and validation of claims.
Every employee who wants to receive retro pay for Interim Lead assignments from April 27, 2025 must fill out the UMMAP Interim Lead Retro Pay form. If you do not fill out the form by the 3/9 deadline, you will not receive retro pay.
You qualify for backpay if you meet the following conditions:
- you served in the role of Interim Lead since April 27, 2025;
- you were assigned to serve in that role by management; and
- you did not receive lead pay for the assignment. (Some departments have been using the Float pay code for Interim Lead assignments. If you received the $2/hour premium, you would not be eligible for additional retro pay (unless you are in BH).)
- You are in the ADEPT, Behavioral Health, Integrated Health Professionals, Lab, and Rehab bargaining units. Members of the MA bargaining unit are not eligible for Interim Lead Pay or Interim Lead Retro Pay. This is because leads in the MA unit are MA Seniors, so the differential is part of the MA Senior pay rate. The contract did not establish a lead differential for MAs, and the grievance only addressed lead pay on an interim basis for members of the bargaining units named as eligible for the lead differential in the contract.
The form asks you to list each date you served as lead, the hours you worked as lead, and the amounts you are owed for each date. The form also asks you to include evidence of the assignment by management. This may take the form of an email or a schedule sent by management.
Labor Relations told us that the new Interim Lead Pay codes should become available within 30 days. So if you work as an Interim Lead before the pay codes go live, you will also need to fill out the UMMAP Interim Lead Retro Pay form for those dates.
